AFTER you have graduated from college in let’s say a reputable university such as Cornell yet you want to proceed with law but you now have a job like being a writer, there is only one alternative to explore – online education. A lot of websites in the United States nowadays now offer online education leading to a bachelor in law. These websites are for people who are so busy working that they don’t have time anymore to continue their studies.

Sometimes online education is offered not just to complete a graduate degree like the ones in law, medicine or engineering but also for people who are taking crash courses that may last up to two weeks or six months only. Among these courses is a language course. Let’s say for example that you are from El Paso. Since El Paso has lots of Hispanics, you definitely have to learn Spanish yourself. In this bustling city set outside the gates of Ciudad Juarez, there are lots of Spanish language schools. But if you don’t have time to study, then you can just enroll online. Another example of continuing education is a few seminars or workshop trainings needed to enhance one’s career. For example, some new accounting procedures introduced by the federal government will greatly enhance a certified public accountant’s life. All the accountant needs to do is take up this course online.

Or one may be a practicing geologist and there’s an update on the formation of rocks on the Earth some three million years ago or so. All geologists in the United States are bound by an organization and the organization, recognized in turn by the federal government, have its own set of policies. For example, a geologist may be expelled if he or she has not attended the mandatory online education as set by their professional association.

Another example of online education is for people who want to improve certain skills like parkour, jujitsu, pentjak silat, capoeira, krav maga and other forms of martial arts. They may not delve on academics but there are now audio and video tapes which can be obtained online only if you enroll in a particular program which is actually a crash course of about two months or so.

But I’m talking exclusively about martial arts and survival skills here. There are now different sports and leisure skills which can be acquired by merely enrolling in crash courses online. They range from ballet to basketball, from ice skating to hockey. All of these crash programs have one thing in common – they are all offered online and participants will only get a certificate once he or she has been proven to have learned the lessons by taking the appropriate tests.

Another field which may be learned is in music. There are different kinds of music to study on – from flamenco to reggae. Music courses are definitely swell as this can not just enhance one’s skills but also relax the person. Music breathes the soul as others may claim and there is no other recourse on how to learn it as easy as it can be except online.
